Blepharoplasty
The age old proverb that the eyes are the mirrors of the soul places appropriate emphasis on this beautiful and defining facial feature.
It is truly the most individual aspect of the human face. Like fingerprints, eyes differ absolutely from one person to another.
Often, the eyes are the first thing that we notice about an individual's face and the last thing we can forget.
Aging of the skin around the eyes- and especially of the upper and lower eyelids- can detract from their impact. Eyelid rejuvenation refocuses the emphasis on this feature, which can reveal emotion and sophistication like no other.
Case Study:
Blepharoplasty
This case depicts a 58 year old woman who underwent an upper and lower eyelid lift, along with a "cheek" or "midface" lift.
Dr. Belsley removed fatty tissue from the upper eyelids in order to achieve a more defined appearance to the upper eyelid crease. In the lower eyelids, no fatty tissue was removed.
Instead it was "repositioned" to camouflage the visible fold that separated the lower eyelid from the cheek. In addition, the cheeks were lifted, further effacing this visible fold, which is sometimes referred to as a "tear trough." The result emphasizes the beauty of the eye, by deemphasizing the aged appearance that develops over time around the eye.

Blepharoplasty
This case depicts a 44 year old woman who underwent a lower eyelid lift in which the lower eyelid fat was rearranged rather than removed.
The result of this procedure is a smooth lower eyelid contour devoid of the bulging or "bags" that many individuals exhibit.
The change can most readily be seen in the views in which an individual is looking upwards.
The post-operative photographs depict this woman's appearance approximately four months after surgery.

Blepharoplasty
This case depicts an isolated view of the eyes of a woman who underwent an upper and lower eyelid lift, along with a midface lift and a face lift.
The post-operative photographs were taken approximately six weeks after surgery.
The lower eyelid lift performed in this case did not involve removal of the fat that normally resides in the lower eyelid.
Instead the fat was repositioned to fill the hollows of the lower eyelids, making the transition from the lower eyelid to the cheek smoother.
This procedure in combination with the midface lift provides the most dramatic change in the "lid-cheek" junction, a look that is both youthful and universally attractive.
Case Study:
Blepharoplasty
This case depicts a 56 year old woman who underwent upper and lower eyelid lifts in concert with an endoscopic brow lift.
The majority of the heaviness in her upper eyelids was due to descent of her brow, which was addressed by the brow lift. Her post-operative photographs depict her appearance at approximately 4 months after surgery.
In individuals who exhibit sagging of the skin of the brow, a brow lift is necessary to rejuvenate the upper third of the face and to release the heaviness from the upper eyelids.
When an upper eyelid lift is performed at the same time as a brow lift, the result can be dramatic and long lasting.
