Clients who undergo bariatric surgery or experience rapid and significant weight-loss often find that after reaching their target weight, their bodies still don’t look as trim and taught as they might have expected. Folds of loose skin and remaining pockets of fat can obscure the healthy body below and many clients end up feeling even less attractive, dejected and discouraged.
Such clients may benefit from one or more surgical procedures that can serve as a final step in you weight-loss program you have worked so hard to achieve.
The greatest benefit to post-bariatric cosmetic surgery is the boost to your self-confidence that comes from finally feeling that you are in control of your weight and your body and being able to engage in physical and other activities that had previously been off-limits.
For women, this might include a combination of liposuction, breast lift and augmentation, arm lift, tummy tuck and lower body lift. While for men a program can be developed to treat gynecomastia along with targeted liposuction, arm lift, abdominoplasty as well as lifting the back and lower body.
Working with her clients Dr. Belsley develops a fully bespoke surgical plan to address each part of your body and help you achieve a natural svelte physique.
Depending on your surgical program, Dr. Belsley may conduct the procedures in multiple stages, the overall goals of these surgeries will be to remove excess skin and residual fat around the arms, breasts, abdomen, back, buttocks and thighs. The amount of scarring following the procedures is dependant on the amount of skin that needs to be excised.
While some scarring from this procedure is unavoidable, Dr. Belsley will do her best to place these along your body’s natural fold lines and/or where they can be concealed by clothing. The majority of clients find scarring a trade off for having a more toned body and finally feeling in control of their bodies.
Because these procedures involves surgical removal of excess skin and tissue, significant fluctuations in weight soon after this type of operation can seriously undermine its efficacy. Dr. Belsley strongly recommends that clients considering this surgery have stabilized their weight before undergoing treatment.
Clients also need to be within a certain body mass range to achieve optimal results. During a physical examination Dr. Belsley will be able to ascertain your suitability and advise an appropriate course of action.
